Baby Bath: At What Age Should You Switch to an Adult Bathtub?

Baignoire pliable bébé posée près d'une grande baignoire, transition vers le bain adulte - Treelys®

Most baby bathtubs are designed for use until around 2 to 3 years of age. When to switch to a regular bathtub depends mainly on the child’s development rather than on a fixed age.

Signs to look for

A child who can sit up independently and remain stable without support during bath time has sufficient postural autonomy to consider the transition. The child’s weight and height, which are often limited by the manufacturer, should also be checked.

A gradual transition, not an abrupt one

You can temporarily place a non-slip mat or bath seat in the large bathtub while the child gains confidence, before removing all support.

Safety remains the priority

Regardless of age, active adult supervision remains essential during bath time, even when the child can sit up independently. The water depth should remain limited, whichever bathtub is used.

A product designed to last

A well-sized foldable bathtub with stand can accommodate the child for longer than a traditional rigid bathtub, before the transition to an adult bathtub. Its foldable design also makes it easy to store once it is no longer in use.
